Trauma - Related Diagnoses and Presentation (Online) - 7 & 14 December 2022

This online training is made up of two 2¼ hour sessions with a 15-minute break and it will be held on 7 & 14 December 2022 from 13.30 to 15.45 each day. 

Trauma-Related Diagnoses and Presentation

This course is for those with direct and frequent contact with people who may be survivors of trauma. This course is relevant to those who are working with service users/clients who might have been affected by Adverse Childhood Experiences and have attracted a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/ Complex PTSD.

Aims

To give you a greater understanding of the effects of trauma and the ways it might present.

Participants will be able to

  • Recognise the impact that trauma may have made on the development of a person’s mental or physical health difficulties and a range of mental health diagnoses from the point of view of both the medical model and the perspective of the service user/client.
  • Explore how to respond to traumatised individuals and build consistent, respectful and professional relationships
  • Support traumatised individuals to recognise and make sense of (where possible) the links between current difficulties or needs and past experiences of trauma.
  • discuss the options and possible referral routes for traumatised individuals
  • Explore their needs as a worker exposed to the details of trauma experienced by others and how this might impact them.

Trainer

Emily Steedman has over 13 years of experience working with Health in Mind. Currently, she is a Project Worker with Trauma Support Services. Emily has a keen interest and passion for using creative tools to foster collective advocacy and raise awareness of the difficulties and barriers faced by people affected by trauma. She has an MSc in Community Education and many years of experience facilitating workshops.

This online course will be delivered through Zoom.

Training bookings are processed through Stripe which accepts all major debit and credit cards.

If you need to cancel your booking and give more than 30 days’ notice, we will refund 50% of your fee. There is a non-refundable administration fee of £5 for cancellations and refunds. If due to unforeseen circumstances we have to change the course date, and it is not suitable for you, we will refund 100% of the payment.
