Online Course: Trauma Skilled Practice

This online training is made up of three 2¼ hour sessions with a 15-minute break. This training will be on Tuesday(s) 22 February, 1 & 8 March 2022 from 2.15 - 4.30pm each day.

The Transforming Trauma National Training Framework sets out 4 levels of training for different parts of the workforce. This training sits at the Informed Skilled Level Two for those with direct and frequent contact with people who may be survivors of trauma.

It is assumed that participants will already have knowledge at an introductory level about trauma through experience or previous training.


To be able to develop working relationships based on trauma-informed principles of trust, collaboration, choice, empowerment and safety.

The workshop will enable participants to:

  • Know what to do with an individual who is suffering from a recent trauma and about the effects of historical trauma.
  • Explore the trauma-informed principles.
  • Know the options for care and support.
  • Know what therapeutic or psychological support is available and where and how to refer them on.
  • Know the impact of trauma for different populations.
  • Know and understand the particular risks that these individuals can face.
  • Know what they should expect from their organisation and how to look after themselves.
  • Be aware of why trauma is everybody’s business.


Emily Steedman has over 13 years’ experience of working with Health in Mind. Currently she is a Project Worker with the Trauma Support Services. Emily has a keen interest and passion for using creative tools to foster collective advocacy and raise awareness of the difficulties and barriers faced by people affected by trauma. She has an MSc in Community Education and many years of experience facilitating workshops.

This online course will be delivered through Zoom.

Training bookings on Eventbrite are best paid for by credit or debit card using Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

If you need to cancel your booking and give more than 30 days’ notice, we will refund 50% of your fee. If due to unforeseen circumstances we have to change the course date, and it is not suitable for you, we will refund 100% of the payment.
