AWARE for Wellbeing

This course is for adults aged 55 or over, living in West Lothian, who are looking to improve their mental health and wellbeing; keen to learn how to make positive changes to their lives and are interested in increasing their personal network and understanding of their local community.

The course was developed to give people more understanding of their own mental health challenges and to help them identify the best coping tools and strategies for them to use in their daily lives, incorporating the ways to wellbeing.

Over 9 weeks, the course will provide a safe and confidential space for participants to think about and discuss:

  • Awareness of our own mental health challenges
  • Wellness: An understanding of what wellness is
  • Actions we can take every day to stay well
  • Resources: Toolbox of the things that can help us
  • Education and understanding of early warning signs, developing plans and strategies

We will also spend time finding out about groups that are running within the community and visiting one of them together and introducing and exploring the idea of creative writing for wellness.
