World Photography Day: Community (19 August 2020)
All the photos we have shared across our social media channels this World Photography Day show that community can mean different things to people at different times.
A community can make you feel like you belong, that you can be yourself and will be accepted just as you are. It’s about feeling supported, knowing you have people who understand and will be there to help you thrive however they can.
For us, Health in Mind is a community. It's made up of the people who access our services, our volunteers, our supporters, our staff, our partners and the people we talk to online. Without each person, we wouldn't have the powerful community that we do.
We believe in working with communities and provide support to and involve other communities in our mental health work. We're stronger together and can learn so much from each other.
At Health in Mind, we strive for people in Scotland to live in a supportive and resilient community where mental health is understood and people lead fulfilling lives. Covid-19 has shown us that although we can't always be physically together, community still exists and we're not alone. Although we may go off and grow in different directions we share roots that keep us together.
Being part of Health in Mind’s community means so much more than just stepping into our building. It’s knowing that you have a community of people that will always have you and your mental health at its heart.
Thank you to everyone who has shared what community means to them. We will be sharing more stories from our community in the coming months. If you are interested in sharing your story and what Health in Mind's community means to you please contact Laura at laura.andre@health-in-mind.org.uk
