EMF 2019:

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is one of the biggest running events of the year in Edinburgh. Falling on the May bank holiday weekend (Saturday 25 and Sunday 26) in 2019 we can’t wait to welcome our growing team of runners to this spectacular event!

Running challenges are a really popular way of raising much-needed funds, and there are links between fitness and mental health. Why not take the next step and raise awareness for both at the same time? Or you may have a more personal reason for taking on a running challenge in 2019. Whatever your reasons, we’d love you on our team.

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is for all running abilities including junior races, a 5K, 10K, half marathon, full marathon and relay race. The courses begin at Holyrood park, around part of Arthur’s Seat, through the city centre and, for the full marathon, along the coast of East Lothian.  Voted as the fastest marathon in the UK by Runner’s World and celebrated for its panoramic city views it’s perfect for novices and veterans.

You can register to take part with one of our free affiliated charity places here:

Once you have a place you will be sent a fundraising pack and support is given throughout your training. All runners receive a training guide and once your run is completed, you'll recieve a goody bag from the EMF containing gear, merchandise and recovery treats.

Here are some of the people already signed up for 2019 to be a #HealthinMindHero and why they wanted to take part:

“I think I was motivated by being at the marathon [in 2018] and seeing the sense of achievement in people, not just in doing the run, but raising money for so many amazing charities. I'm not the best runner at the moment so I feel if I was able to complete a half marathon I would be very pleased with myself!” – Calum who will be running the half at the EMF in 2019

“I heard about the event on Gumtree and as I have worked in mental health for several years before and have had mental health struggles myself, I couldn't pass up on the cause [Health in Mind].” – Sam who will be running a 5K

Whatever your reasons, this is an event not be missed and will make for a special edition to your calendar in Spring 2019. To find out  more about Health in Mind and our range of services please go to:
