Help us, help you...

'I’ve done quite a lot of jobs before I worked at Health in Mind! I worked in hospitality, and before I started to work here I worked for the council, in a similar position, but I wanted to have a change, and I ended up here.
Everybody is so approachable; I think they take out the stigma that is sometimes still associated to mental health. I think it’s very accessible.

Working on reception, sometimes I am the first person somebody has ever asked for help.
It has helped me, in my own life, to be more compassionate towards myself, and others.

I feel lucky to work here, happy.

When people come in for counselling, or meetings, I see a lot of people leave with a smile, or with a bit of a weight lifted. It is quite interesting to see. I think, you can see an immediate effect. I think over a longer time frame, there is more positive changes.

When I was really young, around 12, I knew my sister had mental health difficulties. I kind of grew up with it, to be aware of it, to see how important it is to talk about mental health.

I’ve got an admin position, but I think Health in Mind want to include and support everybody. I am getting really great training, like in suicide awareness.

I’m not entirely sure yet, what will come my way, I have been here for a couple of months, but it is a really good place to be.

It is a very warm and welcoming environment, there is nothing to be scared of. If you feel like you need to talk to somebody, you can come, or contact us, there is always somebody to talk to.’
