Rebecca's Three Peaks Challenge

“I made a promise to myself that when I got better I would… help others that have not been as lucky as me”

We'd like you to meet Rebecca. On 11 August, Rebecca will be taking on the incredible Three Peaks Challenge in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. She is taking on this challeng to raise funds for Health in Mind and help others, like herself, who have experienced mental health problems.

“Until I had depression myself I had absolutely no idea of the effects that it can have both emotionally and physically”

Following Rebecca’s experience of poor mental health, the road to recovery was long. She managed to find support, largely through her network of friends and family, and step by step she was able to start to recover. “As I was recovering, one of the things that helped me was walking.” Initially, Rebecca started to get out of the house and walk for 10 minutes a day.

The Journey to Recovery

When Rebecca started to feel well again, she made a promise to help others that have not been as lucky as her. After a long and hard journey to feeling well, she is now training to walk 24 miles through some of Yorkshire’s most beautiful countryside. “That’s why I’m doing the Three Peaks Challenge [for Health in Mind].” At the time of publishing, Rebecca has raised £595.

But the best person to tell Rebecca’s story is Rebecca herself. Have a look at her Youtube video for her full story here, and for more pictures and updates, you can look at her online giving page here: virginmoneygiving.com
