Our Approach at Health in Mind (October 2020)

Never have our approach and values been so important as over the last few months, while we have been working from home supporting people using our services, our volunteers and each other remotely. Our approach is what has held us together while we are working apart.

Our approach is reflected in our relationships with all people: our colleagues, volunteers, people we support, stakeholders and wider communities. People are at the heart of our organisation and our values are at the heart of our approach.

We work hard to develop trusting, collaborative and empowering relationships across the organisation. We respect each person for who and where they are - valuing people as the expert in their life.

Health in Mind is a community and we also provide support to and involve communities within our work. Despite current restrictions, we continue to connect people with their communities and work to ensure that people can ask for support when they need it.

It’s been challenging over the last few months, but our approach has continued to be positive, hopeful and warm during this time. Our belief in others has not faltered as we work to our strengths to ensure that the best possible support is provided.

Our approach is creative, and evaluation enables us to build an evidence base of the impact of our support. This ensures that we provide the best possible support for those using our services.

We value learning and development; and regularly take time to reflect and learn from our experience as we deliver services differently. We do this together with people using our services, volunteers, staff and external stakeholders. This learning will inform our approach going forward.

I’ve said it before, and I don’t mind saying again - Health in Mind is a unique organisation that always, truly, holds your mental health at heart. We’d love for you to connect with us and see how we can work together to support you with your wellbeing. Just give us a call on 0131 225 8508 or email and we can take it from there.
