Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

This one day course runs from 9.30am until 4.30pm every 6 months.

Target Audience: All staff and volunteers and those with a professional or personal interest in OCD

Aim:

To raise awareness of the nature and impact of OCD 

Objectives:

Participants will:

  • Consider the prevalence of OCD
  • Become aware of possible causes
  • Understand the many forms that OCD can take
  • Consider the ‘chameleon’ nature of OCD
  • Appreciate the part played by doubt
  • Become familiar with a wide range of interventions and approaches that foster Recovery 

Trainer information:

The Facilitator is a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology with experience in supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). She has worked for NHS Lothian psychology services, the Health in Mind Guided Self Help team and Autism Initiatives and has a keen interest in psychological therapies including CBT and mindfulness based approaches.
