Scotland's Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA)

A 2 day interactive course available on the following dates:

  • 14th & 21st May 2012
  • More dates TBC

Target Audience

All who have a professional or personal interest in mental health.

Aims of SMHFA

  • To preserve life
  • To provide help to the mental health problem or crisis devloping into a more serious state
  • To promote the recovery of good mental health
  • To provide comfort to a person experiencing distress
  • To promote understanding of mental health issues

By the end of the training participants will have considered: attitudes, recovery, alcohol & drugs, suicide, listening skills, self-harm, depression, anxiety, and psychosis.

All participants will be given a copy of the SMHFA manual and a certificate on completion of the course.

Trainer information

Stuart Campbell is a member of the national training team for SMHFA and has contributed to the design of the programme.
