Men in Mind

Support services for black and minority ethnic men.

Men in Mind provides support services for black & minority ethnic men who are experiencing feelings of stress or isolation or any other issue that may affect their mental health and wellbeing.

Working across Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian, we are community led and committed to raising awareness of mental health issues.

A full range of services can be found in our service leaflet and include one to one and group support, educational and skills training and social activities.

Who can access this service?

Any adult male (minimum age 16) from a BME background living in one of the areas listed above. Applicants can contact us directly on 0131 225 8508 or e-mail us.  Alternatively we welcome referrals from health and social workers through completion of a referral form.

Seen and Heard

Seen and Heard is a project that was funded by NHS Health Scotland, and produced by men involved with Men in Mind. It is not only a video report of the experiences and perspectives of some men involved in the service, it is also part of a resource for support services who currently do not engage with minority ethnic men or the stigma surrounding mental health problems. Please click on the play button to view the video below.

“The skills courses that have been developed are very good. Most are done locally, which is good for easy access.”

“The Men in Mind Forum is great – you can catch up with old friends and give suggestions to improve the service”.
