Borders Navigator launch event is not to be missed

BORDERS Navigator is a brand new service for Eyemouth and the surrounding area and the launch party is on Wednesday 2 March at Eyemouth Community Centre from 11am until 3pm.

The service aims to help people to navigate their way to improved wellbeing and this is by connecting to the amazing opportunities the local community has to offer.

Jo Highet is the project development worker and she is delighted at the show of local enthusiasm for the service which means the launch will be a really interesting and fun event.

“Borders Navigator is funded and supported by NHS Borders and Scottish Borders Council and is all about people connecting to the many groups, projects, opportunities and events in the area,” said Jo.

“The launch party features 18 different organisations and includes taster sessions which include a mosaic demonstration, getting fit with walking or running; health checks; information on healthy eating with great soup to try; the Borders Forest Trust; Connect Allotment Project; the Auld Merket; volunteering opportunities and the Fire and Rescue Service providing fire safety information and many more.

“The Men’s Shed will provide music for us, and all on guitars they have made themselves and as well as meeting the team and beautiful birds from the Dalhousie Falconry Centre, there will be two chances to win an owl and raptor experience.“

Jemma Landels, Honorary Town Provost of Eyemouth; Gordon Brown, executive officer of Volunteer Centre Borders and Gwenn McCreath, chief executive of Health in Mind, who provide the service, will open the event and cut the special Community Navigator cake.
