Information Afternoons

Our Information Resource Centre runs monthly information afternoons suitable for anyone with an interest in mental health including people using our services, carers and mental health professionals.

Previous topics have included recovery, relaxation and mindfulness, self-harm and borderline personality disorder, as well as laughter therapy. For further information on any of these please see Edspace Events.

Upcoming sessions: 

September - Mental Health Research 

Each month Health in Mind host a public information session about various topics. This month we will be talking about Mental Health Research with speakers from the Scottish Mental Health Research Network coming along.

SMHRN supports mental health research in Edinburgh and across Scotland, including studies looking at resilience factors and physical activity in mental health. The session is informal and you will also have a chance to ask questions.

On: Tuesday September 27 2016 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm

At: Health in Mind, 40 Shandwick Place, Edinburgh (please note this is based on the first floor without lift access).

October - Panic and Anxiety

 Each month Health in Mind host a public information session about various topics and for October, Ronnie Menzies (Clinical Associate, NHS) will be coming along to talk about stress, with a focus on panic.  

The session will cover:

  • What is panic?
  • How does panic and stress affect us?
  • Ways to manage stress
  • How to cope with panic attacks

The session will be very informal with a chance to talk to Ronnie and ask questions. There will also be materials available to take away.

On: Wednesday 26th October 2016, 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm

At: Health in Mind, 40 Shandwick Place, Edinburgh (please note this is based on the first floor without lift access).
